Published by Faber & Faber, London; 1984. First edition, first printing. 191pp. 8vo. Condition: Fine/Very Good+.

Bound in original black cloth boards with title in silver to the spine. The binding is square and tight and free from any marks or damage to speak of save a hint of bumping to the spine ends. Inside, the pages are clean and bright with just a touch of toning.

The book is housed in its original dust jacket, with original price to the front flap. There is a little shelf wear to the edges and spotting to the spine. But overall, it is in vibrant, smart condition.

William Golding was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1983 and was knighted in 1988. He has ranked third on The Times' "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945" in 2008 and won the Booker Prize for literature in 1980 for his novel "Rites of Passage". He is best known for his 1954 novel "Lord of the Flies". This novel tells the tale of English novelist, Wilfred Barclay, who has known fame, fortune and success, and is in crisis. He is on the cusp of becoming an alcoholic, has a dead marriage, and the incurable itch of middle age lust. Together with American Professor of English Literature, Rick L Tucker, he travels across Europe, shedding wives, self-respect and illusions and the climax, when it comes, is as inevitable as it is unexpected.
