Bound in original light blue cloth boards with title in black to the spine. The binding is square and tight, free from marks or damage, save a touch of shelf wear to the edges. Inside, the pages are clean and bright with no blemishes or signs of wear save the slightest touch of toning to the edges.
The book is housed in its original first issue dust jacket, which is in equally clean, bright condition, with just a touch of rubbing and bumping. The jacket is otherwise in excellent condition.
In all, this is a very smart, collectible example of this German first edition of Le Carré's sixth novel, a semi-autobiographical account of a man's post-marital existential crisis, that was published the same year as his divorce.
