Bound in original light blue cloth boards, with title in silver to the spine. The binding is square and tight, in clean, smart condition, with just a touch of bumping to the spine ends and corners. Inside, the pages are bright and blemish-free, with only slight toning along the edges. Unfortunately, the book is missing its copyright page, which has been torn out.
The book is housed in its original first-issue dust jacket, illustrated by George Coral, with the original price of 22s. 6d. net on the front flap. It is dated to the rear flap 'Jonathan Cape 1968'. It is in very good condition, with minor shelf wear to the edges.
In all, this is a very good example of this title by Kingsley Amis. Although it is missing the copyright page, it meets the first edition points. It is Amis's most entertaining novel since Lucky Jim, with Ronnie Appleyard becoming entangled with an heiress and the ensuing events illuminating, with accuracy and wit, the precarious role of honesty in a success-addicted age.
