Published by John Calder, London; 1973. 8vo. 220pp. First edition, first impression. Condition: Fine/Fine

Bound in original red cloth boards, with title in gilt to the spine. The binding is square and tight and in excellent condition, with just a little bumping and darkening to the spine ends. Inside, the pages are clean and bright with no blemishes or marks save a touch of toning and speckling to the edges.

The book is housed in its original, clipped dust jacket, which is equally smart, with no signs of damage or wear.

In all, this is a very smart example of this first edition of this early novel by Yves Navarre, prolific French writer and Prix Garcourt winner, noted for his sensitive explorations of the gay experience. This novel tells the story of a young Frenchman who flies to New York to visit an ex-lover and, whilst there, is exposed to the various pleasures an depravities the city offered in its 1970s subculture. \translated from French by Donald Watson.
