Bound in three quarter brown leather with brown boards. and gilt title to the spine. There is some rubbing to the binding but no other marks. The page rims are decorated with a mottled pattern, which is darkened on the top edge, but remains bright on the other sides. Inside, there ffep has split very slightly, but pages and biding all remain in tact and tight. Other than some minor toning and age spotting, the book is in smart, clean condition internally with no real blemishes or damage to speak of.
The Strand Magazine was originally published monthly and contained fictional stories alongside factual atricles. It included the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. This volume contains the first appearance of six adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. It was with the serialisation of The Hound of the Baskervilles that sales of the Strand Magazine peaked, with many readers queuing outside the magazine’s offices waiting for the next instalment.
