The Viking Press, New York; 1977. 8vo. 367pp. First edition, first impression. Condition: Very Good+/Near Fine

Bound in original red three-quarter cloth binding, with white spine. The binding is square and tight, in very smart condition, with just a touch of bumping at the spine ends. Inside, the pages are clean and bright, free from blemishes or signs of wear. The only point to note is an ownership inscription to the ffep, with some tape marks.

The book is housed in its original first-issue dust jacket, which is in equally smart condition. It is vibrant and bright, with no marks or damage, and only minor fading along the top edge and spine.

All in all, this is a smart example of a less common biography of Hemingway. Scott Donaldson is a leading American biographer, and his works include biographies of many prominent literary figures. This title gives a unique and fascinating insight into Hemingway and is a must-have for any collector.
