Published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson, London; 1977. 8vo. 537pp. First U. K. Edition, first impression. Condition: Fine/Near Fine

Bound in original blue cloth boards with title in gilt to the spine. The binding is square and tight and in very smart condition with just a little bumping and lightening to the edges and a crease to the pine. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from blemishes or damage, with just a little toning and one small spot to the page edges.

The book is housed in its original first issue dust jacket, which is in clean, smart, condition. Other than some fading, predominantly to the front and spine, and a touch of bumping to the spine ends, the jacket is clean and bright and free from marks and damage.

In all, this is a very smart example of this autobiography by Mary Welsh Hemingway, author and journalist, and fourth wife of Ernest Hemingway. This vibrant, spirited, woman was married to Hemingway for the last fifteen years of his life, having met whilst covering World War II as a war correspondent for Time Magazine. This book gives the whole story of her life, and of their life, in a book whose fullness and immediacy makes us understand how it was.
