A Practical Treatise on Banking by James William Gilbart
Published by the Office of the Bankers’ Magazine, and Statistical Register, New York; 1873. Fair condition.
This is the fourth American edition of this book by James William Gilbart. He was an English writer on banking, and had been manager of the London and Westminster Bank. Indeed he has been credited with playing a considerable role in developing the system of joint-stock banking.
The binding of this book is in poor condition, with the spine coming away and the boards almost separated. However, inside this book is in surprisingly goods condition. Apart from some browning to the pages, they are clean and free from damage, with all pages still firmly bound. As such, this would be an excellent candidate for rebinding, which would make it a very smart example of this important work on banking.
