Published by George Allen and Unwin, London; 1967. Illustrated by Faith Jacques. First Edition/First Impression. Condition: Good.
Bound in original laminated pictorial boards, which remain bright and in clean, smart condition. There is some bumping to the edges, the laminate is peeling away on both boards near the spine, and there is a little cracking down the rear of the spine. Tape has been stuck around the top and bottom of the spine, which is a little darkened. That said, the binding remains strong and in tact and the illustrations to the boards are lovely and bright.
Inside, there is a small pen mark to the edge of pp.115, but otherwise pages are clean and bright and free from marks and damage. There is an ownership label affixed to the ffep.
Overall, this is a good example of this popular children's first edition by Roald Dahl, hard to find in nice condition without marking or damage. This book would make an excellent addition to any collection of children's firsts.
