Published by Doubleday, London; 1990. 153pp. 8vo. First edition, first impression. Condition: Very Good+/Near Fine.

A beautiful example of this first edition, the second instalment in the Bromeliad, or Nomes, Trilogy. Bound in it’s original orange boards with gilt title to the spine, the binding is square and tight and in very collectible condition, with just a little bumping to the spine ends and corners. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from blemishes or wear, with just a touch of toning to the pages. There is a faint liquid stain to the top outer corner and edge from p. 111-152, but this doesn't affect the text block and fades with each page so it becomes barely visible. However, the book remains in very smart condition. There is a neat gift inscription to the ffep.

The dust jacket is also in smart condition, unclipped and in lovely, bright condition, with just a touch of fading to the spine. Illustrated by Josh Kirby. There is also a hint of bumping to the edges and a faint liquid stain to the bottom of the spine, but overall it is in excellent condition.

In all, this is a particularly lovely example of this first edition. It is the second instalment in Pratchett's Bromeliad, or Nomes, Trilogy. This is the story of Jekub, the dragon in the hill with great big teeth and a great loud voice. (Well, that's according to the nomes, but they are only four inches tall). When humans threaten their new home in the quarry, the natural thing would be to run and hide. But the nomes have got the wild idea that they should fight back. After all, everyone knows that nomes are faster and smarter than humans, and now they have a secret weapon. This beautiful book would be the perfect addition to any book collection or an excellent gift for any lover of Terry Pratchett's books.
